Courage

Showing strength in the face of pain or grief or taking action that is frightening or might undermine your self esteem requires courage.   Courage does not mean the absence of fear but rather ability to manage yourself appropriately when scared.

The practice of courage can be dramatic and inspirational or it could just be relatively mundane.  Behaving with integrity often requires courage, that is doing the right thing even if it is hard to do so.

Anxiety

Circumstances do not lead us to worry.  When we give way to anxiety or feel unease it is because we chose to allow ourselves to dwell on difficulty or troubles not about what is going on around us.

Exercising courage often simply means you focus on what really matters, that is your personal goals.  Dwelling what might be or what scares us, which can be very real things, detracts from our ability to be courageous.

It’s about you

Acting courageously may result in the admiration of others, even being classified as a hero.  This should not be a motivation for behaving with courage.

Being tenacious feeds your self esteem, that is behaving according to your personal values even in the face of potential adversity strengthens your inner peace.  Ultimately you feel better about yourself.

The worst impact of succumbing to a bully is not immediate or imminent pain they may inflict but the lingering impacts on your self worth.

Standing by your personal convictions may cause you immediate pain and suffering.  However, feeling good about yourself is   something that will last through the long term, ongoing mental stability will far outweigh passing periods of physical pain.

The spirit is within you

Your physical presence forms the baseline of your existence.  Your health is the framework on which your spirit relies. Spirit is  is the non-physical part of you, that is the seat of emotions and character; your soul.

Possibly more important to your overall well being than the physical is your spirit.  By their very nature our spirits can be indomitable.  That is impossible to subdue or defeat.

Leveraging Your Spirit

Physical strength and stamina set a baseline for your active abilities. Your spirit though is your true strength.  You can rely on your spirit to carry you through any circumstances.

Leveraging your spirit requires only recognition of it’s presence and a willingness to use it to support your actions, whether physical, mental or both.

Your spirit is the most powerful energy source you have. The key is believing in its existence, this is the first step to  accessing and then unleashing  the energy.

Focus on you.  Your personal spiritual engery is yours release and power your achievements.  The key to this power is its capability to enable you to be successful.

Your spirit is a force to be reckoned with, one that cannot be overcome and will serve only your purpose not that of others.  Your spirit is the energy within you and it is yours to weld.

Great Power

There is great power contained within your spirit.  Many do not use theirs to full effect, often because they do not realize what a great tool it is nor recognize what can be accomplished by harnessing its energy.

The spirit is in you

This time of year is often called the holiday season because of the nunmber of religious and social holidays that occur in November , December and January.

The christian celebration of Christmas is widely participated in but in general whatever your religious or cultural background this is considered a time of peace and joy.

Feeling the spirit

A collegue commented today how this year he was not feeling the spirit.  It was not something he could put an exact explanation to, it just felt like a busy time at work and in his personal life.

My snap comment, albeit a bit tongue and cheek, was “the spirit is in you, what you feel and how you manage the spirit within is truly a personal choice.”

Your surroundings or You

The weather (burr) the length of the day, our experiences and memories, the people around us, all influence how we choose to feel (and of course much more).

Regardless of the impact of the environmental inflences,  or lack thereof, a warm and happy holiday spirit is yours to choose.  So choose wisely.

Why now?

The holiday spirit is driven by some annual events, gathering with family, eating sumptuous food and exchanging gifts.  These are part of the standard experience this time of year.

Doing these things more frequently can lessen the impact. Anticipation  of them happening is  one of the keys to the happiness and pleasure we feel about them.

So take advantage of the environmental influences and let your holiday spirit bloom.
