When you are living in a reality, not of your choosing, the best approach is to actively participate. Human life is an opportunity to be embraced whether it is to your liking or not.
Beyond simply being occupied, busy or otherwise employed active engagement means participating with zeal, in earnest, and with great interest.
It Just Is
Sometimes we need to be involved with things, not of our own making. We did not initiate them or even desire to be caught within the context of some events.
But, it just is. To quote the title of my favorite Doris Day songs “Que Sera Sera (Whatever will be will be)”. Often it is when these situations are thrust upon us where we need to consciously motivate ourselves to remain fully engaged.
Of course, we could simply disassociate ourselves and enter a limbo trance-like state from which we would hopefully recover when the dire circumstances had passed. Although that is not always possible and there is always a risk we remain comatose, not of our choosing.
Focus and Embrace the Opportunity
Human life can be full of up’s downs, curves, and straightaways (like the proverbial roller coaster ride). Each is an opportunity for enjoyment and pleasure we just need to determine the best way to form it to our liking.
The key first step to successfully navigating any situation is to recognize the constraints, what is and is not in your control, and how the circumstances can be leveraged to your benefit.
Being fully engaged is a mandatory requirement to employ this approach.
