Capturing the moment

When I was a child growing up my precious moments were captured as still photos.  By ten years old these were in colour and by my teen years there were cameras that produced instant pictures.

Live motion and sound were recorded through home movies, this was still film that needed to be taken to a photo lab for processing and needed a special projector for viewing.

Instant Gratification

i just watched my grand-daughter check herself out in dozens of videos taken on a phone over the last week.  Her concentration was intense and the reaction joyful.

I guess it’s really gratifying to relieve that moment as you flow down the slide or pass through the air back and forth on the swing.  Viewing things you had done just hours or even moments before.

In my case the developed photos or movie film came months even years after the event and the impact was very different.  I was bored, even resistant to reliving these memories.

I wonder if was related to the time delay.  I was not so much interested in the distant past as I was in the more recent past and upcoming events.

 Better, Worse or Just Different

Today’s post is not intended in any judgemental way but rather just an observation triggered by watching my granddaughters pleasure while viewing videos.
